# Your agent renames and deletes datasets

Your agent renames a dataset without breaking the artifacts built on it, and can show you what uses one before deleting it.

Your agent can rename a dataset with `edit_view` and `new_name`, and every artifact built on it keeps working. It can delete one with `delete_view`: without `confirm: true` it deletes nothing and reports the artifacts that use the dataset and how many connections are limited to it, so your agent can show you before it deletes. Both are tools of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the way your agent connects to Gatlas, and a read-only connection cannot use them.
