# An agent's connection can be read-only

2026-09-14 | new | access, agents | https://www.gatlas.ai/changelog/2026-09-14-read-only-connections

A read-only connection answers your agent's questions and refuses every tool that changes something.

When you create a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connection on the MCP page, the way your agent connects to Gatlas, you can make it read-only. A read-only connection you create there answers questions from your data and sends feedback, and every tool that changes something refuses it. Admins create connections and can switch the setting later with Edit access.
