Agents
Add the Gatlas agent to Slack, choose who can ask it, and see who did.
What the agent is
The Gatlas agent answers questions about your portfolio in Slack, from your organization's Gatlas data. It only reads: it never changes data, a view, a sync or a setting. Every figure names its source and how fresh it is.
You can have more than one agent. Each one reads the companies you choose for it, so a group that should see different companies gets its own agent.
Add it to Slack
- In Gatlas, go to Agents and open the agent.
- On its Channels tab, choose Add to Slack.
- In Slack, pick the workspace and choose Allow.
The person who chose Allow gets a direct message from the agent with the next step. Adding the agent takes an admin.
Choose who can ask
Each Slack workspace the agent is in has one setting, under Who can ask on its Channels tab:
- Anyone in this workspace: every full member of the workspace, in any channel the agent was invited to, and in direct messages.
- Only people in chosen channels: the agent answers in the channels you pick, and in direct messages from their members. Everyone else is told an admin can give them access.
A new workspace starts with Only people in chosen channels and nothing chosen, so it answers nobody until you pick. To pick a channel, invite the agent to it first: type /invite @gatlas in the channel. A private channel such as #finance is a simple way to name exactly who can ask.
Note
What it can read
The agent reads only the companies on its Scope tab. Change them there, and the next question uses the new scope. It never answers about a company outside its scope, not even with an estimate.
Skills, memory and budget
- Skills: ready-made procedures, such as a monthly P&L with variances, that you turn on for the agent on its Skills tab.
- Memory: when someone asks the agent to remember a definition or a preference, it saves a note. Admins see, edit and delete notes on its Memory tab.
- Budget: each agent has a monthly budget in US dollars, on its Activity tab. Admins get an email at 80%, and at 100% the agent stops answering until the month ends.
See who used it
The agent's Activity tab shows who asked it questions, and where:
- People, last 30 days: who asked, how often, and their feedback.
- Places, last 30 days: each channel, and direct messages.
- Recent conversations: the latest ones, each with a link to its Slack thread.
- Turned away, last 30 days: who tried to ask without access, and where.
The Activity tab shows no question or answer text. Open a conversation in Slack to read it.
Disconnect a workspace
On the agent's Channels tab, choose Disconnect beside the workspace. The agent stops answering there at once. Its scope, skills and memory stay.
Ask the agent for help
Ask the agent how to do something in Gatlas, such as how to let your team ask it questions, and it answers from this help center with a link. When the help center does not solve it, the agent can send a request to the Gatlas team, and only after you approve it in your direct messages.
